This position will provide technical subject matter expertise for project development, selection of loss control strategies and field execution of HSE/Loss Prevention projects globally. Work with third party, site and corporate work teams to coordinate the consistent application of LYB and industry standards and practices for process safety risk reduction and asset protection. Represent LYB in the professional loss prevention and engineering community; guiding company consideration of developing technologies.
A Day in the Life
- Provide centralized subject matter expertise supporting development, review and recommendation of all loss control and fire prevention related project scope development, including risk assessment, system design, cost analysis, maintenance, and operation.
- Provide oversight of Capital Loss Prevention program and site loss prevention projects to help manage spend & execution cycles while improving consistency of risk prioritization & application of control measures.
- Challenge project scope to ensure the most effective options are used to achieve specific risk reduction and overall LP program goals. This should leverage organizational learning, address unnecessary site preferences and promote standardized efficiencies.
- Travel to participate in program assessments, audits, project reviews and to support project teams when necessary. This may involve international locations. Travel frequency targeted at <25%.
- Work with sites to design acceptable solutions for open loss prevention survey and audit items that require engineered or otherwise fixed fire protection and emergency response systems.
- Establish strong relationships with key contacts and sustain a reputation as a responsive, customer focused and knowledgeable resource to sites and corporate teams.
- Maintain a high level of competence and expertise in loss prevention strategies and technology.
- Serve as a member of the Global Loss Prevention Core Network and contribute to the development of technology and knowledge management work processes related to emergency response and loss prevention. Participate in leadership of regional emergency response leaders network.
- Support LYB loss prevention program improvement through the education and mentoring of site stakeholders in technical applications, project management skills and LP program development goals.
- Coach site leaders to develop stronger and more reliable Loss Prevention programs that most effectively integrate fixed loss control systems with tactical emergency response efforts.
You Bring This Value
Education:
- BS technical degree. Emphasis on fire protection and loss prevention preferred. Equivalent experience and demonstrated expertise will be considered.
Work Experience:
- 5-10 years of project development and management experience, preferably in the areas of loss prevention/emergency readiness systems, fire protection design and reliability.
- Preferred experience within petrochemical manufacturing and with field involvement or oversight of capital project execution.
Critical Competencies/Behaviors:
- Technical proficiency with fire protection, emergency readiness and process safety loss control equipment - design, re-engineering, operation and maintenance.
- Understands strategies & limitations of integrating fixed fire suppression systems with mobile firefighting equipment and tactical emergency response efforts.
- Ability to understand, analyze and promote effective loss prevention projects.
- Drive for results with a balanced focus on stakeholder development, work process discipline, and project outcomes.
