Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. We are currently seeking an experienced network and systems administrator with expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and management of distributed networks. Candidate would be in direct support of Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport as a senior administrator maintaining several operational enclaves at varying classifications.



Responsibilities

As a Systems and Network Administrator you will have the opportunity to do the following:

    Provide routine system administration for several Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows enclaves to include performing security updates and building system images.
  • Develop and maintain custom developed containerized applications in environments such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Manage distributed networks leveraging products such as moosefs, cephfs, and proxmox.
  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers.
  • Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.
  • Performs systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts.
  • Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
  • Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • May be assigned responsibility for less experienced staff.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in technical
  • DoD Secret Clearance (Preferred TS)
  • DoD 8570.1-M Cybersecurity Technician Level II or III certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+/Network+, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and operating systems certification (e.g.). Microsoft Technology Professional, CompTIA Linux+ and Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA).

At least 3+ years' experience in:

  • Managing multi-operating system domains via Active Directory.
  • Administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Microsoft Windows operating systems
  • Developing and maintaining multi-operating system distributed networks.


Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $67,800.00/Yr. - USD $113,200.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
