The incumbent is an integral member of the of the Finance and Research Administration team. Under general supervision, provide administration and analysis for contract and grant pre and post awards serving the departments of Neurology, Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). Works in a highly independent capacity and serves as one of three financial analysts for the contracts and grants team, managing complex proposals and funding sources and serving as de facto compliance officer and resource advisor to individuals and teams of faculty for proposal submissions.
Gathers, manages, and analyzes financial data from a variety of revenue streams including state and federal grants private grants contracts, clinical trials, and other funding sources. Responsible for budget preparation, review, analysis, effort reporting product compliance and forecasting of extramural budgets. Work closely with ADRC administrators in the financial management of the ADRC portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or a combination of experience, education and/or training required.
- Two years of previous experience in finance, contract and grants administration, budget and proposal management.
- Demonstrated knowledge in federal financial guidelines as stated in Uniform Guidance, OMB-Circular A-21 and federal audit guidelines in OMS-Circular A-133
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and expertise in the use of Excel, especially pivot tables.
- Organization skills to set work priorities with pressure of deadlines.
- Ability to plan, anticipate operational needs, forecast deadlines, set objectives/goals, multitask, and coordinate assignments including follow-ups.
- Ability to analyze problems, suggest solutions, make decisions, and initiate resolutions actions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to understand and appropriately respond to multiple and frequent inquiries, requests and instructions in a courteous, cooperative and professional manner.
- Tact, diplomacy and flexibility to effectively deal with faculty, staff, agencies and others.
- Ability to represent the Department in a professional manner.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex, interdependent variables and efficiently work in an independent fashion in an organized and self-directed manner.
- Ability to readily adapt to change.
- Ability to establish and maintain filing systems, databases and spreadsheets. Must be able to coordinate and organize a high volume of record files efficiently.
- Ability to deal with conflict in a constructive manner and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

The Department of Neurology in the UC Davis School of Medicine fosters teaching conducts basic and clinical research on the nervous system and provides clinical care for people with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, epilepsy, movement disorders, tremor, dystonia, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular conditions, headache and sleep disorders.
