Description

Leidos has an opening for a Technical Librarian to supports environmental programs by managing, organizing, and disseminating scientific, technical, and regulatory information. This role ensures accurate document control, efficient knowledge sharing, and compliance with environmental regulations, records management standards, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage technical libraries containing environmental reports, studies, permits, datasets, and regulatory documentation
  • Catalog, index, and maintain digital and physical collections using established metadata and records standards
  • Support document control activities, including version tracking, archiving, and retrieval
  • Assist environmental scientists, engineers, and program staff with research requests and information discovery
  • Maintain compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, NEPA, state/local requirements) and records retention policies
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews by providing accurate and timely documentation
  • Coordinate with IT, records management, and program teams to maintain document management systems
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to information management
  • Train staff on document submission, retrieval processes, and knowledge management tools

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Experience in technical librarianship, records management, or document control
  • Familiarity with environmental documentation (e.g., environmental impact statements, monitoring reports, compliance records)
  • Experience using electronic document management systems (EDMS) or digital libraries
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS)
  • Experience supporting environmental, engineering, or scientific programs
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance documentation
  • Experience in government, consulting, or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with metadata standards and records retention schedules
  • May support federal, state, or commercial environmental programs
