What to Expect
Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including Tooling Design, Simulation, and Process Engineering-to develop and continuously improve complex tooling systems that enable high-volume, precision manufacturing at scale. This role involves taking designs from concept through production, ensuring performance, quality, and manufacturability across a range of advanced applications.
What You'll Do
- Lead the CAD development of new and existing tooling systems, including mechanical features such as parting lines, moving components, ejection strategies, and thermal management (e.g., integrated cooling systems and fluid routing)
- Design custom tools, fixtures, jigs, and related components as needed, and generate detailed models and drawings for fabrication
- Evaluate tooling and component failures, implement corrective actions, and provide design solutions to enhance equipment reliability and part quality
- Partner with Design and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure tooling supports both product requirements and efficient manufacturability
- Incorporate feedback from simulation and process engineering teams to optimize tooling performance and robustness
- Drive innovation in tooling architecture to improve uptime, cycle time, and yield, while minimizing risk
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, including collaboration with external suppliers, fabricators, and internal partners
- Support scheduling and execution of tooling design, build, and implementation activities across global manufacturing teams
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Mechanical design experience with a strong foundation in precision tooling or related systems
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (advanced surfacing, large assemblies); CATIA V5 or similar preferred
- Ability to manage projects across cross-functional teams and external partners
- Strong problem-solving skills, hands-on approach, and ability to adapt designs based on field feedback
