This hands-on position is ideally suited for an enterprising, self-starter who has a passion for enhancing advanced manufacturing/smart factory capabilities at Sandia by implementing, supporting, upgrading, optimizing, interfacing, and extending complex custom and COTS systems related to the Production Lifecycle Management suite of applications (i.e. PDM, ERP, and MES). In addition, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the desire and ability to coordinate/lead small to medium size initiatives. Finally, this position is best suited to individuals who are flexible, enjoy working on a wide variety of problems, and can adapt to changing priorities and demands.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Collaborate with others in the department and across the CIO organization to support the smart manufacturing IIOT/OT and PLM software implementations and support initiatives.
  • Take an active role in the center's implementation of Solumina MES COTS software.
  • Contribute to the maturation of the center's implementation of ThingWorx (e.g. dashboards, connected work cell, interfacing with Windchill PDM software, etc.); Emphasis will be on working with manufacturing process engineers to maximize value from the ThingWorx or equivalent platforms.
  • Develop and/or research methods to perform data/system integration and interfaces between the organization's Oracle ERP, MES, and Smart Manufacturing COTS and custom applications.
  • Participate in digital engineering/digital thread initiatives.
  • Perform operational support duties that may include both computer and software needs, including a wide variety of different types of operational equipment.
  • Research methods to use AI to enhance both individual and department capabilities.
  • Assist in the governance and stewardship of center data, including operational and machine data (time series sensor data, image, and video).
  • Collaborate with cyber professionals to deliver secure solutions.
  • Develop and cultivate trust-based relationships with the manufacturing engineering partners we support and, as well as, corporate CIO partners and organizations internal and external to Sandia.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
