Position Summary	The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate research into the neural circuitry of sound processing. This position will be responsible for providing technical support to other members of the research group as well as conducting independent studies when applicable. They will also be responsible for a number of important aspects of our research program such as performing surgeries to prepare mice for experiments, conducting behavioral/physiological experiments, utilizing microscopy for histological experiments, and general lab managerial and maintenance responsibilities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements	Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences	Hands on experience with mouse studies, including the capability and willingness to perform surgical procedures. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Strong interpersonal skills tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to effectively work with staff, faculty, and students. Background in Biology, Psychology, or Neuroscience with some lab experience to actively participate in discussions on laboratory procedures and goals and to quickly learn new laboratory techniques and software programs. Preferred programming experience and an interest in pursuing an academic career.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical/Mental Requirements	Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as required to keep steady workflow and meet deadlines. Must be able and willing to work with rodents and biohazardous materials. Must have the ability to perform surgeries, move 20 pounds, and remain in place for up to 2 hours at a time, with or without accommodation.
