Title: Utility Inspector II Location with zip code: Royal Oak, MI, 48073 (Location can be either Royal Oak or Livonia, but manager is also open to another service center.) Pay Rate: $20/hr. to $25/hr. on w2 Shift Timing (Day/ Evening/ Night): 1^st shift- Shift Hours: 40 hrs./week Duration: 12+ months Job Description: As a Gas Leak Survey Technician, you will collaborate with the local utility operator to inspect natural gas assets statewide for Client, providing a critical service to ensure public safety. Experienced in performing leak surveys using sensitive equipment, identifying abnormal operating conditions (AOCs), and patrolling client infrastructure. Additionally, you will document and report your findings to the utility operator. Onsite driving, Location can be either Royal Oak or Livonia, but manager is also open to another service center. Work Environment : You will work in a variety of settings, outdoor; Some sites may include embankments, uneven terrain, or wet conditions and changing weather conditions. This means adapting to high heat, humidity, sudden storms, and cold temperatures. Role & Responsibilities: Conduct leak surveys using sensitive equipment. Identify and report abnormal operating conditions (AOCs) and leaks. Patrol and inspect infrastructure. Document and report findings accurately. Provide seamless customer service through customer interaction to address utility-related concerns. Operating motor vehicle and performing work safely in the field. Additional duties: Occasional daytime advanced methane detection driving required as well. Required Skills: Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record. This job is considered "safety sensitive" and is subject to pre-employment background check and drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites. Must be able to walk up to 5 miles per day on various terrain and various weather conditions carrying a minimum of 25 pounds. Must be able to pass operator qualification (OQ) testing during training to become qualified to perform work in field. Willingness to work overtime if needed by the Company. Must be familiar with using a smart phone with apps to collect field data. Must be self-motivated. Have strong communication skills and pay attention to details. Required Education: High School. OQ Certification.
