The impact you'll make

Join Lam as a Manufacturing Engineer where you'll play a crucial role in supporting the new product pilot production factory, and virtual manufacturing. Using your knowledge of technology and engineering principles you will oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations. You'll tackle technical, quality, and production challenges. Your expertise optimizing manufacturing costs and standards helps shape Lam's commitment to innovation and efficiency in manufacturing.

What you'll do
  • Troubleshoot new or existing product problems, involving designs, materials, or processes.
  • Design, develop, and implement safe and cost-effective complex equipment and methods of assembly for all phases of manufacturing.
  • Define process and methods for high volume manufacturing which includes operations method sheets, routing, and sequencing.
  • Perform virtual build and create sequences of assembly.
  • Perform root cause investigation and recommend corrective action for operational problems, such as material use variances, bottlenecks, fixture issues during build or manufacturing process.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes or resolve problems and follow through resolution to reduce costs, improve product quality, and cycle time.
  • Review and develop designs that improve product manufacturability and assembly.
  • Coordinate new product builds in pilot production manufacturing partnering closely with manufacturing and product engineers.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to address mechanical and electrical issues that impact pilot manufacturing assembly and test activities
  • Create and release engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) using Engineering Change Management process.
  • Development of handoff package to allow product transition to high volume manufacturing.
Who we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of experience; or Master's degree with 3+ years' experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Skilled troubleshooting capabilities in the areas of electro/mechanical assemblies.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in basic, hands-on machine shop and electrical skills (e.g. drilling, tapping, sheet-metal fabrication, interpreting engineering drawings and schematics, using a multimeter, etc.)
  • Proficient in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) with approach to structured problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Proficient in software applications such as CAD modeling, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), or Product Data Modeling (PDM) systems.
  • Experience in Engineering Change Management Process.
  • Working knowledge in Operation Method Sheets (OMS), process planning, and Bill of Materials (BOM) Management.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English.
Preferred qualifications
  • Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, Capital Equipment industry and its manufacturing processes.
  • Past experience in a manufacturing or assembly facility, especially involving capital equipment assembly, electromechanical assembly, automotive, or machine shop work.
  • Hobbyist experience in car maintenance, 3D printing, model building, electronics, or other DIY activities.
  • Knowledge in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders or customers in technical matters.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $86,000.00 -$192,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
