The Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Technology Management at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor of business law faculty position to begin in Fall 2026.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Technology Management in the Thomas College of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke ( UNCP) anticipates hiring a full-time tenure track assistant professor of business law to begin in fall 2026.

Teaching areas include Business Law & Ethics, International Business Law, Commercial Law, and Legal Issues for Managers (relevant to the accounting field).


Job Description
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor in Business Law position.

This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic candidate eager to be a member of a dynamic business College with collegial faculty. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. An earned JD (Juris Doctor) degree is required. Applicants with a JD and experience in business law will receive the highest priority. JD holders with professional experience will be seriously considered.


Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness, excellent communication skills, a commitment to scholarly research, proficiency with internet-based technologies, and the ability to utilize online pedagogies to enhance classroom learning is required.


Teaching load is three classes per semester as long as AACSB scholarly academic (SA) status is maintained. Otherwise, the teaching load is four classes per semester. Summer teaching is available as well as summer research grants.

Teaching areas include Business Law & Ethics, International Business Law, Commercial Law, and Legal Issues for Managers (relevant to the accounting field).

A record of scholarly activities as documented by recently published articles in peer reviewed journals is preferred. Engage in appropriate research and publication to maintain scholarly currency and AACSB scholarly academic (SA) designation in assigned teaching areas of law.

Successful candidate is required to 1- Teach undergraduate/graduate, face-to-face / online business law classes; teaching needs include business law and ethics, commercial law, international business law, and legal issues for managers. 2- Maintain scholarly academic (SA) AACSB status as set by the UNCP Thomas College of Business and Economics; scholarly active and publish in discipline peer-reviewed journals. 3- Engage in services at departmental, College, University, professional, and community levels. 4- Other activities as set forth by the department chair.
Management Preference
Proven and documented success in undergraduate and graduate teaching is highly desirable.
