SUMMARY: The Consumer Credit Adjustor is responsible for performing collection duties related to consumer accounts, managing a portfolio of delinquent accounts from 15 days late to point of charge-off.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: North Shore Bank's Position Descriptions are intended to describe only the major functions of the job. You may be expected to perform other duties specified by your manager. Everyone is expected to contribute whatever efforts necessary to operate efficiently and effectively to insure the success of the Bank.


Resolves customer delinquencies through various means of contact (telephone, letters, or personal visits) and maintains accurate records of each contact.


Collects loans and leases (approximately 200-250 past due accounts per week).


Refers accounts to the Consumer Credit Collections Manager for litigation or repossession of loan or lease collateral.


Appears at bankruptcy and small claims hearings as necessary.


Assists in taking and investigating credit applications for delinquent accounts.


Maintains working knowledge of bankruptcy laws, Fair Credit Reporting Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.


Assists in maintaining established consumer credit collection objectives, procedures and department goals.


Investigates, skip traces and collects charged off excess wear and tear, loan and lease accounts.


Coordinates and monitors charged off accounts sent to outside collection agencies or law firms.


Monitors accounts for proper casualty insurance coverage to protect the Bank's from outside risk.


Resolves problems associated with insurance agents and the proper documentation of customer's related insurance coverage.


Prepares the Adverse Action Notice and Termination letter for HELOC accounts and follows through with suspending or terminating the line of credit.


Cross-sells other related bank products and services.


QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education, such as an Associate degree in business or finance from an accredited school, is preferred. A minimum of two years of banking or related financial industry collection experience is preferred. A thorough knowledge of consumer state and federal collection laws as well as the Wisconsin Consumer Act is preferred.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The position requires a flexible work schedule and evening and occasional Saturday hours are necessary. Knowledge of MS Office products particularly Word and Excel are required. Strong interpersonal communication skills are a requirement. Requires the ability to manage and prioritize workload in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines.
