Medical Claims Specialist Job Summary The Medical Claims Specialist is responsible for the accurate review, processing, and resolution of medical claims in compliance with payer guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. This role ensures timely adjudication of claims, resolves denials, and provides support to providers, members, and internal teams regarding claim status and payment issues. Key Responsibilities * Review, analyze, and process medical claims in accordance with payer policies, benefits, and contractual guidelines * Adjudicate claims for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and modifier coding * Identify, research, and resolve denied, pended, or underpaid claims, including initiating appeals when appropriate * Verify eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and coordination of benefits (COB) * Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and apply appropriate adjustments or corrections * Communicate with providers, members, and internal departments regarding claim inquiries and resolutions via phone, email, or portals * Submit corrected or resubmitted claims using CMS-1500 and UB-04 forms * Maintain accurate documentation of claim activity in claims processing systems * Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround time standards while ensuring accuracy * Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations * Assist with audits, quality reviews, and process improvement initiatives as needed Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred) * 1+ year of experience in medical claims processing, billing, or revenue cycle operations * Working knowledge of medical terminology, insurance benefits, and claims adjudication * Experience with CMS-1500 and/or UB-04 claim forms * Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding * Proficiency in claims processing systems and EMR/EHR platforms * Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Excellent written and verbal communication skills Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glastonbury, CT. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
