We are seeking an experienced Sr. Principal Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Engineer to support inspection and quality assurance efforts on advanced aerospace components, including rocket motors and composite structures. This role focuses on developing and implementing nondestructive inspection techniques to ensure optimal product quality while maintaining cost efficiency. Candidates should bring a strong engineering experience advanced NDT expertise, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with design, project, and quality engineering teams. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. Key Responsibilities * Review engineering designs and drawings to determine appropriate NDT methods for various materials and defect types. * Develop inspection documentation detailing testing parameters and requirements. * Conduct technical audits of field NDT personnel. * Support production teams and assist with troubleshooting and repair of NDT equipment. * Participate in R&D activities to advance inspection capabilities and integrate new technologies. * Generate formal customer reports including graphics, tables, summaries, and recommended actions. * Maintain electronic and physical archives of inspection data and reporting. * Perform other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, OR * Master's degree with 6+ years of experience, OR * PhD with 4+ years of experience. * Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. * Minimum of 2 years holding a Level III certification to NAS 410 in at least one of the following: * Eddy Current (ET) * Ultrasonic (UT) * Radiography (RT) * Must be able to achieve additional NAS 410 Level III certifications in ET, MT, UT, RT, and PT. * Willingness to crosstrain in additional NDT methods. * Ability to pass 20/25 Snellen or Jaeger No. 1 vision exam for NAS 410 certification. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with CAD software. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. * Selfstarter with the ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities. * Handson experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. * Experience in NDT for aerospace products. * Experience in root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Palmdale, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100.00 - $125.00/hr.
