Job Summary:

The Research Study Assistant for the Havey Institute for Global Health will work closely with our international NIH grants and faculty members supporting their global projects. It will include making travel arrangements, coordinating schedules/meetings, tracking documents from grant applications, and supporting the internal research seed award process from start to finish. This position will include the opportunities to learn the grant process from start to finish and understand how to work with grant funders. The individual is expected to work directly with our international partners and be understanding of cross-cultural workplaces and general administrative support. We wish to find someone that is willing to work with our faculty members to get to know their individual projects and get to know our international partners. The Research Study Assistant also coordinates collection, analysis, processing & reporting of data & assists Principal Investigator (PI) in reviewing the validity of data obtained in regard to grant programs. Completes activities related to NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), grant activities ensuring following NIH and funder regulations.

About Havey IGH: Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine's Robert J. Havey, MD Institute for Global Health unifies two growing and successful entities, the Global Health Initiative Fund and the Center for Global Health, formerly a part of the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM). The Institute for Global Health continues to focus on the three major areas that the Center for Global Health supported: 1) student, resident, fellow, and faculty education in global health; 2) coordination and support of faculty to carry out global health research; and 3) partnership building and clinical outreach to partner communities.

Specific Responsibilities:

Administration

  • Maintains detailed records of results which may include collecting, extracting & entering data; &/or preparing basic charts & graphs.
  • Performs scientific literature searches in support of research.
  • Completes portions of grant applications &/or documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols.

Finance

  • May process reimbursements for travel expenses.
  • Processes invoices &/or purchase requisitions.

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • MS Office suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Proactive, Collaborative - ability to work in team setting, Deadline orientated

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • Experience with IRB processes, Experience working cross-culturally with different institutions, attention to detail,

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Ability to read and understand program budgets, Excellent writing skills, Ability to work in fast-paced environment

Target hiring range for this position will be between $17.05 to $23.95 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
