Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Chemistry One-Year-Only (OYO) faculty member to join our dedicated and engaged faculty team for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position will teach college-level chemistry courses for both majors and non-majors and participate in instructional, assessment, and professional development activities.

Additional Information

Please note that per the Affordable Care Act (ACA), once the short-term assignment ends, the incumbent will not be eligible to work in a part-time or Adjunct position within MCCCD for 26 weeks.

Essential Functions
  • Teaches a minimum of 30 load-hours per academic year and maintains office hours each week to assist and mentor students.
  • Incorporates multiple methods of instruction in a classroom and lab setting.
  • Utilizes a variety of assessment strategies in and out of the classroom.
  • Develops written syllabi and course/lab materials, evaluates student knowledge of subject matter taught and maintains course grades, prepares and grades exams and other assignments.
  • Utilizes Canvas or appropriate learning management system for course administration.
  • Collaborates with faculty, lab staff, tutors, and other student support services.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in the teaching field

OR

Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours

Desired Qualifications
  1. Experience teaching chemistry.
  2. Experience supporting and instructing learners with a wide range of backgrounds, needs, and abilities.
  3. Experience incorporating best practices from Chemistry education research.
  4. Experience developing curriculum utilizing interactive engagement or active learning in chemistry.
  5. Experience using assessment to measure student learning and improve instruction.
  6. One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years.
