What You'll Do

The Manager of Materials and Simulation provides operational leadership for preclinical simulation environments at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. This role is responsible for overseeing simulation materials, workflows, staffing coordination, and readiness in support of preclinical instruction, mannequin-based assessments, and licensing examinations, including CDCA.

The Manager ensures that all simulation environments are properly stocked, staged, and operationally aligned with academic schedules and faculty expectations. This role serves as the primary operational lead for CDCA-related simulation activities and partners closely with faculty, Central Sterilization, Materials Management, and Clinical Operations to ensure consistency, compliance, and student preparedness.
The position reports to the Assistant Director of Clinical Operations & Services and directly supervises simulation-assigned staff, including leads and assistants supporting preclinical operations.

Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education.
  • The successful candidate must possess progressive operational experience supporting complex, time-sensitive programs within structured environments such as higher education, healthcare operations, technical training programs, or comparable institutional settings. This experience must demonstrate the ability to manage workflows, coordinate materials or resources, support scheduled instructional or assessment activities, and collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • The candidate must demonstrate experience overseeing day-to-day operations, supporting staff or functional teams, managing logistics or readiness activities, and responding to changing operational demands. Experience may be drawn from administrative operations, academic support services, simulation or training environments, facilities-adjacent operations, or other roles requiring coordination of people, materials, and timelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in operations, education, healthcare administration, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience supporting preclinical, simulation-based, or instructional environments within academic, healthcare, or professional training settings.
  • Familiarity with managing materials, supplies, inventories, or operational readiness in support of structured programs or assessments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating competency-based examinations, licensing activities, or large-scale instructional events is preferred.
  • Prior exposure to dental education environments, mannequin-based simulation, or CDCA-style assessments is beneficial but not required.

Pay Range

Minimum $79,600.00, Midpoint $99,600.00, Maximum $119,500.00

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
