We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to play a crucial role leading the development and launch of high voltage components for automotive and industrial applications. This role owns product designs from concept through production release, operates with limited direction, and makes independent engineering decisions to meet performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design, development, validation, and production release of high voltage components, including busbars, wire harnesses, and BDUs.
  • Support and interpret FEA analysis (thermal, mechanical, Moldflow) to validate designs and guide decisions.
  • Apply materials and manufacturing knowledge, with emphasis on copper conductors, metal stamping, and 3D bent copper busbars.
  • Develop detailed models and drawings using CATIA, CREO, or UG, applying GD&T per industry standards.
  • Partners cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and suppliers to support launch and ongoing production.
  • Project Leadership: Manage cross-functional projects, guiding teams (e.g., design, manufacturing, R&D, procurement) to achieve project results on time and within budget.
  • Drive continuous improvement by engineering, evaluating, and implementing design changes that enhance performance, quality, and manufacturability, using sound mechanical engineering judgment and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of mechanical design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience owning the engineering design and release of BUSBARs, BDUs, or similar highvoltage components for an automotive supplier or OEM.
  • Proficiency with CREO, CATIA or UG.
  • Working knowledge of FEA (Moldflow, thermal, mechanical) and GD&T.
  • Functional knowledge of material properties and their application.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience engineering high voltage/high current cable and connector designs.
  • Experience with mechatronic commodities.
  • Experience with copper stamping, electrical conductors, and 3D bent busbars.
  • Manufacturing or launch support experience.
  • Knowledge of ECN/PCN processes.
