Material Planner, Easton, PA
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Manages the planning and scheduled delivery of raw, semi-finished, and/or finished goods materials from suppliers into Crayola or from Crayola manufacturing shipped externally in order to meet production requirements in support of global customer service, inventory, and total cost goals. Ensures the accuracy of data within the SAP ECC production planning supply chain software. Manages planning exceptions on a daily basis, interacting with internal and external partners for problem resolution and adjustments due to requirement changes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) data to determine manufacturing and material requirements; Place purchase orders to support Master Production Schedule based on current forecast and inventory strategies.
- Monitor changes in production/purchase orders for internal or external services and supply, and manage exceptions related to demand and supply. Review red lights for reschedule in/reschedule out and dock past dues and action items.
- Act as first point of contact and lead problem resolution with established suppliers. Analyze implications of supply issues and present alternatives for critical decisions. Communicate with suppliers regarding materials/purchase orders/product shortages.
- Ensure inventory strategy approach for materials supports targeted global customer service levels, inventory, lead-time, and total cost objectives. Perform where used analysis as needed in support of manufacturing, formula, or other product changes. Collaborate component phase-in and deletions with Supply Chain Planners based on use-up projections and analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments and outside suppliers to improve minimum order quantities, lead times and flexibility to benefit the global Crayola supply and customer base.
- Establishes schedules for component phase-in and deletions based on use-up projections and analysis. Monitors effectivity date and revises, as needed, based on changing production and sales requirements, establishing the priority and flow of each product change to minimize OSMI.
- If applicable, participates on cross-functional platform teams to successfully develop and execute new product launch.
- If applicable, maintain contract/scheduling agreement worksheets.
- If applicable, collaborate with Demand Planning and Demand Control to understand forecasted needs. Maintain constant coordination with Customer service to highlight issues with supply and order configurations.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS degree preferably in Business, Industrial Management, Logistics or Supply Chain discipline or 2 years of experience in supply chain or planning environment.
- Knowledge of inventory planning methodologies and using an MRP system to optimize inventory asset levels while achieving required service level performance.
- SAP or similar planning software experience desired.
- Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft office Suite
- APICS certification desirable
- 10% travel required
