| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
Summer Bridge is a six-week transition program that helps incoming first-year students adjust to Carolina by providing academic enrichment, community building, and co-curricular and experiential learning activities. The program is designed to ease participants' personal and academic transition from high school to the University. Students enroll in two academic courses, which usually represent a combination of English composition and quantitative skills. They also participate in activities designed to supplement their summer experience by engaging in high-impact learning experiences often facilitated by units such as the
UNC Learning and Writing Centers, University Career Services, and Student Life and Leadership. Additionally, cultural and recreational activities are significant components of the program, as students are introduced to the University and the array of opportunities and resources available. |
| Position Summary |
The Summer Bridge Resident Program Assistant will assist program coordinator with all aspects of the administration of the
UNC Summer Bridge program. The resident program assistant will assist with program planning and other activities as determined by the program coordinator. Additionally, the resident program assistant provides supervision and direction to the student staff in collaboration and consultation with the program coordinator. This living/learning environment will serve as a foundation upon which to build a community of support for future academic and personal success. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
Experience with summer transitions programs or other types of student support programs. Including planning, supervising program staff, organization of calendar, and student services experience. |
| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |

| Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
