FIELD: Work in the field due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Job Description

Primary Purpose
Conducts compressor and engine performance testing, condition analysis, tuning, emission testing, troubleshooting, and technical support related to operations, maintenance, and repairs. Position requires significant travel throughout the service territory and specifically extended hours and after hour continuous support when testing, troubleshooting and/or responding to urgent or emergency conditions.

Position requires significant travel throughout the service territory including overnight stays up to 50% of the time and on-call duties.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Tests and evaluates engines and compressors using diagnostic analyzer including volume/pressure cards, vibration and ultrasound. Diagnose problems and recommend corrective action through a written report and verbal communications to station personnel. Oversee engine emission testing activities by third parties to verify compliance with air quality regulations, and conduct periodic emission tests. Diagnose problems and assist station by tuning air pollution control systems, and optimizing engine or compressor control systems.
  • Serves as a consultant and project leader on special teams, utilizing individual skills and teamwork to resolve issues. Interacts routinely with contractors and station crews as a technical resource for failure analysis, and maintenance, repair, or operation strategies. Recommends course of actions.
  • Provides technical assistance to clients through the support of programs, technology and strategic applications. Supports various construction, and research projects as a technical advisor. Tasks include research, data collection, verification of field information, component design, inspection, written reports to document findings or to make recommendations, field testing or emission testing, working with consultants or contractors, and coordinating activities with station personnel or engineering.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications

Education



  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in an engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience/training Required


Experience



  • 5+ Related experience or equivalent experience/training Required
  • Field Operations or Maintenance experience. Preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Requires thorough knowledge of the field compressor and engine operations Intermediate
  • Knowledge of specialized testing equipment for compressor and engines. Intermediate
  • Proficiency in gathering analyzing data to develop sound, logical, alternative solutions to existing field operations. Intermediate
  • Requires working knowledge of project management principles. Intermediate
  • Must be able to manage, coordinate and plan several projects simultaneously. Intermediate
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills to develop and present technical information to diverse audiences. Intermediate
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Intermediate
  • Must have the ability to develop and interpret statistical information and reports. Intermediate
  • Experience with developing simulation test procedures for evaluating prototype tools and equipment required. Intermediate
  • Deals effectively with ambiguity, has good business sense, highly innovative and creative, demonstrates analytical abilities and high standards for performance and improvement. Intermediate
