Overview:

Prepare breakfast, soups, meats, vegetables, fried/grilled items, desserts, breads, and other orders in a restaurant setting, working a rotational shift in a remote location.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Estimate food requirements and orders food from supplier or procures food from storage.
  2. Prices items on menu.
  3. Take orders from tickets.
  4. Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills, roaster, and steam kettles.
  5. Sets up station according to restaurant guidelines.
  6. Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  7. Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  8. Restocks all items as needed throughout shift.
  9. Cleans and maintains stations in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills.
  10. Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station.
  11. Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  12. Completes daily reconciliation of cash drawer when manager is not present.
  13. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide temporary back-up to restaurants manager on occasion.

Education and/or Experience:

  1. 1 year certificate from a college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  2. 2 years' experience within a kitchen setting with volume production (required).
  3. Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  4. Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Ability to obtain Food Workers Card http://www.dec.alaska.gov/eh/fss/fwc/fwc_home.html
  2. Ability to work in a remote location on a 4-week rotational schedule.
  3. Well-groomed and willing to follow dress requirements.
  4. Ability to learn basic tasks and follow instructions.
  5. Ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs
  6. Ability to create, updates, and manage menus.
  7. Must demonstrate a good attitude and the ability to work as a member of a team.
  8. Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
  9. Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment, and have a strong attention for detail.
  10. Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  11. Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.

  • Certification from college or technical school
  • Food Workers Card

Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily indoors in a restaurant, heated/freezer environment. Some exposure to weather conditions while working outside of the restaurant when performing other tasks on the facility.
