About the Opportunity:

The Business Unit Leader is responsible for leading production associates to meet or to exceed safety, quality, delivery, working capital, and productivity goals by reinforcing an environment of Continuous Improvement of all processes/activities.

Location: Manchester, CT

This role will be onsite 100% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor key performance indicators (hereafter referred to as KPI) and achieve operational goals through the proper planning, execution & mobilization of the proper resources.
  • Supervise and coordinate work of assigned employees including the appropriate management of time while prioritizing the manufacturing of parts and the utilization of equipment
  • Understand the stakeholder needs. (Customers (both internal and external), shareholders & employees)
  • Effectively participate in the company's Strategic Deployment process for establishing and achieving company goals
  • Lead by setting examples and providing them with appropriate tools to be productive.
  • Give periodic presentations to employees, customers, and suppliers
  • Drive cultural change through open communication and respect
  • Embrace and promote the Pursuit Values.
  • Identify and capture performance improvements through the application of lean principles
  • Implement changes in an organization
  • Constantly strive to reduce all non-conformance material and maintain yield improvement plan and improve the quality performance of the Business Unit through continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure robust manufacturing process to produce parts with quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Execute established business processes that accomplish company goals
  • Working Capital - must continuously maintain plans to improve inventory turns by 10% year over year.
  • Monitor process performance against the standards and address significant differences.
  • Drive relentless improvement in product quality

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of manufacturing and operation/supervisory experience and responsibilities
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad technical or administrative experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques knowledge
  • Experience with developing/documenting procedures
  • MIcrosoft Office skills
  • Working knowledge of costing and financials

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
