Summary: Provides legal support for an Energy Transfer affiliate across all areas of the U.S. related to environmental remediation and toxic tort litigation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support various legal activities of the company related to environmental law Assist with responses to government agency inquiries and proceedings Provide support in contract review and negotiation of environmental-related issues affecting the company's operations Assist in managing toxic tort cases, including those related to asbestos, benzene, and other hazardous materials Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies Revise legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests Advise on settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution processes Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting environmental law and toxic tort litigation Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school Licensed in good standing to practice law in a US jurisdiction 3-6 years of experience as counsel in a fast-paced environment (preferably major law firm experience or experience at an environmental regulatory agency) Environmental law background required with CERCLA and/or state cleanup experience preferred Strong state (PA/NJ/NY) environmental remediation experience is helpful Litigation experience is preferred Strong writing and legal analysis skills required Strong academic credentials and previous training in respected law firm, corporate legal department, or administrative agency required In-house experience helpful Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, and able to work as a member of a busy team Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Hybrid work schedule; requires working in person in headquarters located in Wilmington, DE Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing Occasional overnight travel may be required Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
