Role Overview

The Distributed Generation IT Tools & Analytics Senior System Analyst supports the design, development and maintenance of IT tools that support a best-in-class DG customer experience, facilitate engineering interfaces, support data governance, develop data analytics tools and audit-quality regulatory and business reporting outputs for regulatory compliance and to meet business objectives, and help operationalize technical requirements from standards and regulatory frameworks (including FERC Order 2222). You will coordinate with Company IT, engineering, and DG customer operations teams to help identify and support buildout of technical solutions.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day support and enhancement workstreams for interconnection IT tools (e.g., interconnection portal, hosting capacity map, tracking dashboards), which may include requirements gathering, acceptance criteria, UAT support, and implementation coordination.
  • Support data governance and quality controls for technical and operational interconnection datasets, including definitions, lineage, validation checks, and exception handling to ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting and to report internally for business purposes.
  • Support development of analytics tools that provide market, operational, and other insights to support business objectives, policy development, and regulatory processes, in partnership with the DG Strategy team.
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of tool integrations and operational workflows to reduce rework, improve transparency, and strengthen auditability.
  • Prepare documentation artifacts such as business requirements, process flows, standard operating procedures, and standard practices rollouts to operationalize changes.
  • Establish and support implementation of FERC Order 2222 technical requirements to enable aggregator participation, coordinating telemetry/control requirements and distribution reliability needs with appropriate internal teams.
  • Support R&D coordination and technical evaluation efforts that inform future interconnection capabilities, IT tools, and processes
  • Own all aspects of generating data needed for regulatory reporting outputs (e.g., SIR-related reporting, FERC Order 2222 technical reporting), including data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and preparation of auditable deliverables.
  • Partner with Strategy/Regulatory counterparts to ensure technical datasets are complete, consistent, and delivered on schedule; proactively flag data risks, gaps, and remediation actions.
  • Prepare technical standard operating procedures and process maps; translate technical/regulatory interpretation into executable standard practices in coordination with engineering, operations, IT, and compliance partners.
  • Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and three years of work experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology preferred. and three years of relevant experience. experience delivering cross-functional technical work in energy/engineering/utility environments, including delivery support for IT tools and data reporting and governance.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Strong communicationclear, confident updates to both technical and non-technical audiences, is Required.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills; manages multiple workstreams and deadlines, is Required.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and comfortable working in a dynamic environment, is Required.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends/issues, and produce accurate, auditable outputs, is Required.
  • Tools & data comfort: Excel required; SQL/Python/Power BI/Tableau for analysis and concise visualizations, is Preferred.
  • Experience supporting vendor or system integrator delivery work, and/or coordinating across IT and business teams, is Preferred.
  • Experience supporting implementation of IT tools or platforms (requirements, UAT, release support) and/or managing data quality controls for operational reporting, is Preferred.
  • Familiarity with utility DG interconnection processes and technical topics such as protection/controls, metering/telemetry readiness, smart-inverter settings, and operational requirements, is Preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
