Overview Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers. This role serves as a senior data product and quality lead who sits between business stakeholders, data engineering, and technical development teams to ensure customer-facing data is accurate, reliable, and actionable. The Senior Specialist is responsible for monitoring and managing data quality, leading investigations into data issues, and recommending systemic changes that address root causes rather than one-off fixes. Using a deep understanding of customer needs, business processes, and regulatory requirements, this role translates requirements into data features, tools, and process improvements that support current and future compliance obligations and enable customers to confidently access the information they need to register and evaluate their energy choices. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Act as the primary subject matter expert and data steward for source-system data structures, relationships and business rules.
- Interact with internal and external stakeholders and customers to analyze and document data system requirements in an Agile development environment.
- Create, review and approve technical requirements to ensure they align with system capabilities, create test scripts, and perform UAT.
- Manage department-wide projects to design, update, and/or implement new data product enhancements
- Use advanced critical thinking skills to diagnose complex problems
- Support the adherence to privacy and security standards and controls as well as to data governance processes and best practices.
- Investigate and troubleshoot data discrepancies, collaborating with technical teams to implement long-term resolutions.
- Document and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries, process documents and maps, data workflows.
- Establish and enforce data quality standards for BEUP and perform regular assessments to identify anomalies, gaps/missing data and inconsistencies.
- Contribute to data strategy planning and roadmap development.
- Manage data system alerts and communication to maintain uptime and efficiency.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Master's Degree and a minimum of two years relevant experience. or
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three years relevant experience. or
- Associate's Degree and a minimum of four years relevant experience. or
- High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of five years relevant experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business, or applicable degree and three years related work experience in a business data analysis area.
Relevant Work Experience
- Experience with requirements gathering and documentation (both business and IT requirements) is Required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills is Required.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills are Required.
- Self-sufficient person who can work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams, is Required.
- Flexibility to work on multiple assignments with changing priorities and stay on schedule/on budget, is Required.

- Strong skills and experience with the MS Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project, is Required.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel) for reporting and analysis, is Required.
- Strong SQL proficiency for querying, analyzing and validating data across source systems, is Required.
- Experience with database design and data modeling concepts, is Required.
- Ability to create process maps and workflow documents, is Required.
- Formal project management, business analysis and data analysis skills, is Preferred.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies - creating user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria, is Preferred.
- Experience with data governance frameworks and metadata management tools, is Preferred.
- Familiarity with the energy industry, including an understanding of energy and meter data, industry-specific terminologies and business processes, is Preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
