The mission of the Department of Population Health and Disease Prevention is to integrate perspectives and methods from multiple disciplines to study the social, behavioral, and biological drivers of well-being across populations, including the impacts of infectious and noncommunicable diseases. We advance local and global health by training the next generation of scientists, leaders, and advocates and by translating research into interventions and practical solutions.
The Department is a focus of excellence in cross-disciplinary public health research and education at UC Irvine with disciplinary expertise in global health and biobehavioral sciences.


Your Role on the Team

The Behavioral Medicine Research Lab is seeking to hire a skilled lab assistant to support ongoing research activities. The position provides a unique opportunity to gain experience in a
highly interdisciplinary research program. The Study Recruiter will play a critical role in implementing multi-component study recruitment strategies. This position involves working as part of a team to approach and screen potential research participants in clinical and community settings. They will serve as a key representative of the research program with a variety of collaborating agencies. Key responsibilities include participant recruitment, research protocol implementation, data coordination, preparing detailed recruitment reports, and providing administrative support.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Working knowledge of biobehavioral research methods including participant screening and consent procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to engage in diverse clinical settings for research implementation.
  • Proficient in quantitative data analysis using appropriate software (e.g. STATA, R, SAS).
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Working knowledge of basic biosample processing procedures and basic laboratory safety.
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • One or more years of experience in biobehavioral research or applied public health work (e.g. clinical recruitment, data collection, intervention implementation) serving cancer survivorship communities.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of human subjects protections.

Special Conditions:

  • Local travel may be required.
