JOB SUMMARY

The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will lead strategic sourcing and supply chain initiatives throughout the organization. This individual will develop and execute sourcing strategies to ensure continuous and stable supply of indirect materials (MRO), services, and equipment.

The Strategic Sourcing Analyst must have the ability to analyze a variety of products, technical requirements, and delivery needs of indirect materials, services, and equipment for the corporation's needs. The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will be exposed to all levels of management, both at the local level as well as the supplier level, to deliver year-over-year improvements in cost, quality, availability, and inventory. It is crucial that the Strategic Sourcing Analyst develop an in-depth understanding of supplier capabilities in the marketplace. The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will be working with confidential data and must be prudent in its use of interpretation. Strategic planning and thinking skills, coupled with analytical and execution skills are critical to the position.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze spend data, market trends, and supplier capabilities to identify savings opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Partner with internal departments (e.g., Operations, IT, HR, Marketing, Finance) to understand business requirements, align sourcing priorities, and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Work independently or with Strategic Sourcing Team to negotiate with suppliers for lower pricing, better payment terms, delivery, yearly rebates, capacity reservation, etc.
  • Take a professional and disciplined approach to working with suppliers ensuring transparency, consistency, and fairness.
  • Monitor and review the price, delivery and quality of MRO materials and services to maintain a dependable and high-performing supplier base.
  • Report on key metrics of the area (KPIs)
  • Design and implement sourcing strategies to attain year-over-year cost reductions, material quality/delivery improvements, and inventory reduction targets using appropriate supply chain tools.
  • Work with operations & staff functions to develop new suppliers with systems to support low cost, high quality, and material availability.
  • Lead the initiative to own the supplier relationship for the major suppliers in the areas of responsibilities.
  • Ability to analyze a variety of products, technical requirements, delivery needs, and financial ramifications of stocking, purchasing, delivery, and storing of materials.
  • Manage VMI suppliers.
  • Assist GE Vernova corporate, HR. marketing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and others in the selection of indirect suppliers, materials, services, and equipment to meet needs of the corporation.
  • Supports shop floor reviewing MRP and issuing purchase orders for MRO to the appropriate suppliers within the allotted lead time as necessary to support plant operations.
  • Reviews open-order reports regarding non-production goods and services for purchase orders for reschedules, cancellations and expedites as needed.
  • Ensure all rework/replacement material is expedited for best available delivery.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • An excellent team player with strong people skills; able to build relationships at all levels of the organization, work collaboratively, and be an agent of change.
  • A strong understanding of MRP systems, SAP preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation.
  • Engage in Kaizen events to help with cost-reduction discussions, material availability, VMI optimization, etc.
  • Develop, document, and deploy standard processes, based upon best practices.
  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Strong process analysis and documentation skills required.
  • Sourcing Strategy development and execution.
  • The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will be working with confidential data and must be prudent in its use of interpretation.
  • Strategic planning and thinking skills, coupled with analytical and execution skills, are critical to the position.
  • Ability to multi-task - efficiently prioritize and manage multiple on-going projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of five years of relevant experience

Preferred Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Engineering or Supply Chain
  • APICS certification, CPMS certification, Six-Sigma experience, and quality experience.
