Description and Requirements
As a Small to Medium Business (SMB) Sales / Business Development Intern at Lenovo, you will support our sales team by helping identify, engage, and qualify potential customers. This role provides hands-on exposure to outbound prospecting, customer engagement, and the technology sales process while working with Lenovo's broad portfolio of products and services-including laptops, servers, storage, accessories, and professional services.
This internship is ideal for a motivated, curious, and goal-oriented individual who is interested in building a foundation in Business to Business (B2B) sales and business development. You will work closely with experienced sales representatives to learn how opportunities are uncovered, nurtured, and converted, while developing strong communication and professional skills.
What You'll Do:
* Support outbound sales efforts through phone calls, email, and other correspondence to engage prospective SMB customers
* Research and identify potential customers, key contacts, and business needs
* Qualify inbound and outbound leads and schedule meetings or handoffs for sales representatives
* Learn how to articulate the value and benefits of Lenovo products and solutions
* Assist with opportunity tracking, CRM (Client Relationship Management System) updates, and sales reporting
* Provide follow-up support to customers by sharing product information and coordinating next steps
* Collaborate with the sales team to support acquisition, development, and retention strategies
* Participate in sales training, team meetings, and coaching sessions to build foundational sales skills
What You'll Learn:

* How to position hardware, services, and solutions to meet customer needs
* Professional communication, objection handling, and relationship-building skills
* Exposure to sales forecasting, pipeline management, and corporate sales initiatives
Qualifications:
Basic:
* Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Sales, Marketing, Business, Comms or IT/CS
* Interest in sales, business development, technology, or customer-facing roles
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Comfortable speaking with customers over the phone and via email
* Must be able to work at Lenovo Morrisville, NC Corporate Office on a 3:2 schedule: 3 Days in Office, 2 Flex Location
Preferred:
* Prior internship, campus leadership, retail, customer service, or sales-related experience
* Interest in technology or the IT industry
* Self-motivated, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn
* Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
* Coachable mindset with a willingness to receive feedback and grow
