Shift: Full Time, 36 hrs/week, Rotating Day/Night schedule

The Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) completes patient care activities and provides clerical support as delegated by the RN.

What You Will Do

  • You will perform basic patient care tasks including but not limited to: ADLs, vital signs, I&O, 12-lead ECG, bladder scan, hygiene, and venipuncture (where applicable) and/or as delegated by the RN, in the implementation of the established plan of care.
  • You will familiarize yourself with equipment such as wheelchairs, EKG equipment, patient assistive devices, and patient care equipment specific to assigned population
  • You will provide compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and peers.
  • You will follow established evidence-based prevention guidelines to promote positive patient outcomes.
  • You will provides a safe environment in patient rooms and on unit.
  • You will facilitate stocking and ordering of supplies for patient care.
  • You will assists with unit communication.
  • You will acts as a key resource for onboarding and training new team members.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
