Basic Function: The Material Handler is responsible for efficiently performing various material handling duties, including the manual or powered transport of materials to supply assembly areas. The role requires the use of hand trucks or power lift trucks and includes tasks such as unloading, transporting, and quality checking materials. Principle Duties:
- Assist in unloading trucks and processing necessary paperwork for receiving parts and materials.
- Load and prepare materials for transport to the assembly area as required.
- Read work orders or follow verbal instructions to determine the materials needed and their appropriate assembly area.
- Deliver materials to the designated assembly area using hand trucks, power lift trucks, or manually as needed.
- Perform quality checks to ensure materials meet required standards.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) program.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Accountability:
- This position reports directly to the External Logistics and Receiving Supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience operating a power lift truck is required.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be physically capable of climbing, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing loads, and working at moderate heights.
- Strong depth perception and the ability to safely operate a power lift truck.
- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Capable of reading and understanding work orders, box markings, and transferring numbers accurately.
- Proficient in reading a tape measure.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to work with fractions.
- Ability to use necessary hand tools.

- 5S Training
- General Safety Training
Physical Demands:
- Required to be constantly moving about the facility (standing, walking).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:
- While on shop floor, must wear safety glasses and steel toed shoes at all times.
- No loose clothing, watches, jewelry, rings, etc. That could get caught in machines.
Work Environment:
- Mainly a plant environment, with some office exposure.
- Exposed to any number of elements (heat, cold), but none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
