Ensures optimal animal health care and welfare through preventive medicine, diagnostics, and treatment protocols. The role is responsible for conducting comprehensive clinical evaluations, developing treatment plans, and overseeing surgical procedures to support laboratory animal research programs. This position prioritizes animal welfare in alignment with regulatory standards.

Essential Functions
-Responsible for overseeing the process of clinical diagnostic data collection.
-Conduct comprehensive reviews of medical records to assess the quality and completeness of clinical documentation.
-May participate in the response to internal/external inspections and quality assurance audits of veterinary or animal welfare-type content.
-Analyzes medical information to assist healthcare staff in providing superior services for patients.
-Provides anesthesia and surgical support as well as postoperative care for clinical and research procedures.
-Provide clinical care for the animal colony.
-Collaborates with data management in the planning and implementation of data quality assurance plans.
-Write, review and update veterinary care and/or necropsy SOPs as required.
-Ensures integrity of patient data.

Education
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine required

Licenses and Credentials
Massachusetts Veterinarian license required

Experience
Experience in lab animal care 1-2 years preferred

- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and procedures.
- Broad knowledge of clinical systems.
