Position Summary

The Warehouse Distribution Center (DC) Supervisor oversees all warehouse operations as a hands-on leader, serving and motivating warehouse employees, leading by example, and fostering a positive team-building atmosphere. The candidate will supervise and continuously improve all inbound, outbound, and internal inventory movements.

The Warehouse DC Supervisor is responsible for supervising all areas of Warehouse Operations in the Distribution Center including, but not limited to, clerks, pallet builders, checkers, loaders, forklift drivers, etc., by providing leadership to the team, training and evaluating Warehouse Personnel and Processes, and maintaining the ability to provide expertise and hands-on assistance in any area of Warehouse Operations when required. Is responsible for performance management and will lead the interviewing of potential candidates, provide direction of work to the assigned team, and provide guidance and support to any specific area of responsibility and/or Team as designated by the Warehouse DC Manager. This role reports to the Warehouse DC Manager and manages issues occurring within the Warehouse regarding processes or personnel, while promoting all policies, safety procedures, goals, expectations, and Parker Purpose and Values.

Provides support and prioritization for team through best practices. Responsible for training new team members and maintaining departmental SOPs. Also is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and monitoring the productivity of the daily work. The warehouse is a busy environment where priorities can change at a moment's notice, so the ability for the Warehouse DC Supervisor to multitask and change priorities quickly is essential to this role.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and directs the daily activities of warehouse teammates to ensure the safe and successful completion of all related daily warehouse activities and operations.
  • Oversees and delegates training of warehouse personnel. Verify and ensures all applicable Warehouse processes are followed, including, but not limited to, the processes for handling damaged product check-in, etc.
  • Conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions for hourly teammates. Documents and delivers performance management discussions including disciplinary documents.
  • Communicates with other departments and internal/external stakeholders as it relates to identified process improvements, quality, Out-of-Stocks (Out of Stocks), Late Loads, etc.
  • Manages and models the safety culture and strives for 100% compliance concerning safety policies and procedures.
  • Supervision, training, and direct assistance of warehouse operations which include, but not limited to, loading/unloading, receiving, sorting, put away, and picking.
  • Leading by example to ensure that all procedures and best practices are consistently followed.
  • Drive an efficient and motivated workforce by providing effective coaching, feedback, and encouragement.
  • Measure and report KPIs and operational metrics to the Warehouse Manager daily.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree (required) preferably in Warehouse Management, Logistics, or Business-related field
  • 3+ years of combined management experience in Warehousing or Third-Party Logistics in a warehouse environment
  • PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification

  • Proven record of managing at least 15 warehouse employees

  • Effective communication, interpersonal skill, leadership, and conflict resolution

  • Strong knowledge of modern warehousing practices and methods

  • Critical thinking ability and an initiative-taking approach to problem solving

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP software

  • Able to operate warehouse equipment and machines (forklifts)

  • Ability to lead, coach, teach, and train in a manner that aligns with Company purpose

  • Extensive knowledge of all Warehouse Processes and Warehouse Systems

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and think proactively; effective communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment

  • Ability to coordinate and organize efficient and dependable warehouse processes

  • Ability to adapt to needs of role in different work areas throughout the workday and meet minimum expectations of those different work areas

  • Ability to work/lead in a noisy and non-climate controlled (hot in summer/cold in winter) environment

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and proactively seeks out value-add opportunities

  • Flexibility to change with the demands of the business
