About Technical Operations

BioMarin's Technical Operations groupis responsible forcreating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians,scientistsand support staff build and maintain BioMarin'scutting-edgemanufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, andprocurethe needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.
SUMMARY:
The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Over the course of 10 -12 weeksour interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects.
The greater Supply Chain Operations (SCO) department is responsible for the site production planning and scheduling, operational readiness planning, warehouse operations, weigh and dispense operations, operational purchasing, Oracle recipe management, VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory), bulk drug shipping, as well as receipt, shipping, and transport of non-GMP supplies and materials.
JOB DESCRIPTION/PROJECT:
The SCO intern will support the entire Novato Supply Chain Operations department, with the primary task to drive the department forward with regard to performance (operational and financial) and innovation (new practices and technologies). A high level of initiative, energy and motivation are key requirements of success, as well as organizational skills. Areas of involvement will include the following:
  • Creation and management of key performance indicators (KPI's)
  • Daily management system process improvements
  • Implementation and improvement of 5S programs
  • Warehouse technology and innovation
Required Skills:
  • Understanding of basic commercial supply chain operations
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office tools and applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Desired Skills:
  • Ability to compile and interpret data for process optimization
  • Proven ability to independently manage work, actions, and expectations
  • Understanding and ability to work with Microsoft Power Platform tools (PowerBI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Copilot studio)
Qualifications/Eligibility:
  • CandidatepursuingaBachelor'sdegree in life sciences, business, supplu chain, operations management, or industrial engineering.
  • Must be available to workfull time,40 hoursa week.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. based university or college and enrolled in the fall term after the completion of the internship OR have graduated within 1 year of the start of the program.
  • Must be able torelocateif necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship for on-site, hybrid roles.

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $24 to $27 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions.
