Job Description

NetImpact Strategies has an opportunity for an AV Technician supporting a federal customer's enterprise IT Service Desk and End User Support Services program. This role provides professional audio/visual (A/V) technical support for meetings, events, and conferences across federal facilities, ensuring reliable setup, configuration, operation, and breakdown of multimedia equipment. The AV Technician supports live, hybrid, and virtual events, troubleshoots technical issues in real time, and ensures seamless delivery of audio and visual services in alignment with established service standards and performance expectations; this position is onsite in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

    Provide on-demand A/V support services for meetings, conferences, and special events.
  • Set up, configure, test, operate, and break down A/V equipment including monitors, projection systems, microphones (wired and wireless), speakers, video conferencing systems, and presentation laptops.
  • Ensure proper connectivity, audio levels, video output, and network configuration prior to event start times.
  • Provide live operational support during events, including sound management, presentation switching, and real-time troubleshooting.
  • Support hybrid and virtual meeting platforms approved within the federal environment.
  • Transport A/V equipment between event locations and ensure proper storage and inventory tracking.
  • Maintain and document A/V service requests within the designated ITSM platform (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Coordinate event requirements, schedules, and setup timelines with event stakeholders.
  • Perform routine inspections of A/V equipment to ensure operational readiness and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly to minimize event disruption.
  • Support major public-facing or high-visibility events requiring advanced logistical planning and execution.
  • Follow all federal facility security procedures, safety standards, and equipment handling protocols.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Audio/Visual Technology, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing A/V technical support in a corporate, government, or large event environment.
  • Experience setting up and operating microphones, speakers, large displays, projection systems, and video conferencing equipment.
  • Familiarity with hybrid meeting platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or similar enterprise platforms).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve audio and visual issues under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Experience documenting service requests using a ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Ability to lift and transport A/V equipment as required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal contractor fitness determination (background investigation and continuous vetting).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting high-visibility executive or public-facing events.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation certification or familiarity with IT Service Management principles.
  • Experience supporting A/V services in a federal government environment.
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts related to conferencing systems.
  • Strong organizational and logistics coordination skills.

Location Requirement

  • Position is onsite in Washington, DC.
  • May provide support at additional federal facilities including Fort Meade, MD; Culpeper, VA; and Williamsburg, VA.
  • Occasional travel may be required for major events outside the National Capital Region.
  • Work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on event requirements.
