Job Overview:

Reporting to Ingersoll Rand's Director, Global Compliance, the Manager, Global Trade Compliance leads the strategic design and execution of Ingersoll Rand's global tariff mitigation and trade compliance program within a complex industrial manufacturing environment. This role focuses on enabling compliant cross border movement of materials, components, and finished goods while driving enterprise level tariff mitigation strategies to reduce landed costs, protect margins, and support global growth. The manager serves as a strategic advisor to leadership on global trade regulations, risks, and opportunities created by trade policy shifts.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Program Direction -


  • Develop and execute a long term global trade compliance strategy aligned with Ingersoll Rand's manufacturing footprint, supply chain network, and growth objectives.

  • Lead enterprise-wide tariff?mitigation strategy, including optimization of origin, classification, valuation and use of preferential trade programs.

  • Monitor global trade policy, geopolitical changes, and regulatory trends; proactively advise leadership on operational impacts and strategic responses.

  • Drive long?term digital transformation initiatives to strengthen compliance controls, improve visibility, and reduce manual workloads.





Tariff Mitigation & Cost Optimization -


  • Lead strategy for customs duty savings programs, including:

  • Free Trade Agreements (e.g., USMCA, EU FTAs, regional agreements)

  • Foreign trade zones (FTZ) and bonded warehouse programs

  • Duty drawback and recovery programs

  • First sale for export, valuation strategies, and supply chain restructuring

  • Oversee accurate commodity classification (HTS, ECCN) for components, machinery, and complex industrial systems.





Regulatory Compliance & Governance -


  • Ensure global compliance with import/export regulations including EAR, ITAR (if applicable), OFAC sanctions, and local customs laws.

  • Establish global standards, policies, and procedures tailored to Ingersoll Rand's industrial manufacturing operations and engineered product portfolios.

  • Lead global trade compliance risk assessments and implement comprehensive mitigation plans.

  • Maintain strong internal controls and audit mechanisms across business units, plants, and distribution centers worldwide.



Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Law, or related field.

  • 7+ years of global trade compliance experience, ideally in industrial manufacturing.

  • Strong expertise in tariff classification, rules of origin, valuation, and duty savings programs.

  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise level compliance or trade mitigation initiatives.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills, with proven ability to influence executive stakeholders.



Preferences:


  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (LCB, CCS, CES, CUSECO, CTL, etc.).

  • Worked with industrial manufacturing or complex Bill of Material environments.

  • Implemented / managed global trade systems such as Amber Road or equivalent.

  • Coordinated with global manufacturing plants, contract manufacturers, and multi-tier suppliers.
