This is a 1 year contract with the possibility of extension and/or conversion to a career appointment.


Position Summary

The Music Inquiry Support Facilitator works in collaboration with the Music Demonstration Teacher and administration to provide an appropriate educational environment for children ages 4 to 12, planning and engaging music learning experiences at UCLA Lab School that encourage cross-curricular learning. The UCLA Lab School, part of the School of Education & Information Studies, is an innovative school committed to research-based education for student body of 450 students, ages 4-12. The Music Inquiry Support Facilitator will support the delivery of Music curriculum with engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards that meet the needs of a broad range of music development levels for students ages 4-12 at UCLA Lab School. Develop appropriate follow up practice for the various age groups and language levels. Source and provide additional resources to the Music Demonstration Teacher providing opportunities for caregiver engagement with their child bridging home to school. Identify and utilize resources appropriate to support the music program. Utilize the classroom environment to support music development.


Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to support learning environments for children ages 4-12 in an educational orinformal learning setting. (Required)
  • Demonstrated skills in working collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students in a dynamic,technology-rich environment. (Required)
  • Demonstrated comfort with learning, using, and troubleshooting a variety of digital tools, hardware,and software, with the expectation of ongoing learning and technical growth. (Required)
  • Ability to support small-group work and student engagement without providing direct instruction (Required)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently coordinate multiple tasks in a fastpaced,changing environment (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an organized, safe, and adaptable workspace suitable for variedage groups and project types. (Required)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationshipswith faculty, staff, and students. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and adults from diverse socio-economic,cultural, and linguistic backgrounds (Required)
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate technical or observational information clearlyto colleagues. (Required)
  • Demonstrated interest in or familiarity with technology-supported learning environments, such asSTEM labs, makerspaces, or similar settings. (Required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of vocal and instrumental music pedagogies, child development theory, and best practices in early childhood through elementary (Required)

  • Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  • Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
  • TB Test: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory TB test.
