Job Description ICOP is seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer to work within our Florida region on the design and estimating of support of excavation, ground improvement, and foundation work. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles. This position is in-office in Miramar, Florida. Summary The Design Engineer produces designs and drawings for support of excavation, ground improvement and foundation work under the supervision of a principal engineer. This individual is responsible for developing preliminary designs for bidding purposes, assisting the estimators in the pre-construction stage in the pursuit of value engineering ideas, and preparing final design packages. . This position works closely with both the operations and sales teams. Technical Duties and Responsibilities: Perform preliminary designs of support of excavation, ground improvement, and other geotechnical systems. Provide feedback on the feasibility of ground improvement and support of excavation/structural design solutions. Prepare drawings and calculations packages for construction for support of excavation and ground improvement with supervision from principal engineers. Perform field observations of construction where appropriate. Collaborate with other engineers and professionals, both within ICOP and with outside firms, clients, and consultants. Minimum Requirements: BS in Civil Engineering with focus on geotechnical coursework Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in Support of Excavation design PE license (or expected within one year) Strong technical writing, communication skills, and interpersonal skills
