Description
Graduate Engineer II - Land Development, Dallas, Texas Halff is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join the Land Development team in Dallas. This position offers the opportunity to participate in the design, analysis, and review of land development projects, primarily focused on light industrial and office/warehouse developments, as well as commercial and residential subdivisions. The scope of work includes site civil, drainage, utilities, roadways, and stormwater infrastructure projects. The role involves working closely with licensed Professional Engineers who are committed to supporting your professional growth. It is a hands-on position ideal for individuals who think critically, solve problems proactively, and communicate effectively. There is a clear progression toward licensure, leadership, and ownership within the firm. What you will do: Design & Technical Delivery
- Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for land development projects under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.
- Utilize Civil 3D software to develop site designs, grading plans, utility layouts, and stormwater systems.
- Conduct engineering calculations for alignment, grade, water flow rates, and other design parameters.
- Analyze drawings, site conditions, survey data, topographic maps, and geotechnical reports to inform design decisions.
- Coordinate with surveyors to establish reference points, grades, elevations, and other essential construction data.
Regulatory & Project Coordination
- Prepare permit applications and regulatory submissions for local, state, and federal agencies.
- Develop construction cost estimates, including materials, equipment, and labor.
- Participate in client meetings and agency coordination sessions.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and subconsultants to ensure projects stay on schedule.
Field & Communication
- Observe construction progress to verify general conformance with design documents.
- Prepare technical reports and present engineering findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Take on additional responsibilities as skills and experience increase.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or an ABET-accredited equivalent.
- 2-3 years of experience in civil design projects.
- Successful completion of the FE exam, with a current Texas EIT license or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire.
- Active pursuit of Professional Engineer licensure.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D for design and production.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and design tools.
- Familiarity with local and state codes, regulations, and permitting procedures relevant to land development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions under tight deadlines.
- High attention to detail and dedication to producing accurate work.
