The Opportunity:

The UCF IT Department within Facilities and Business Operations at the University of Central Florida is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as Associate Director, Workday Human Capital Management (HCM). This role provides strategic leadership and direct management of the Workday HCM enterprise resource planning (ERP) team, including ERP application systems analysts, system administrators, and engineers. The Associate Director will define and execute the Workday HCM strategy and roadmap in alignment with business priorities, leading system development, implementation, upgrades, testing, data conversion, and ongoing support.

This position oversees the planning, development, maintenance, and support of all HCM-related IT systems and operations, ensuring optimal performance across the Workday HCM environment. The Associate Director also leads application development, performance monitoring, application optimization, and service delivery efforts to consistently improve system functionality and reliability. In collaboration with executive business owners and business process owners, this role ensures Workday HCM capabilities and team priorities align effectively with organizational goals and operational needs.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead and supervise a team of ERP applications systems analysts, ERP system administrators, and engineers.

  • Maintain resource plans, assign and prioritize work, provide direction, and monitor team progress.

  • Plan, execute, and participate in department, division, and university initiatives that strengthen culture and employee engagement.

  • Collaborate with executive business owners and business process owners to ensure Workday HCM functionality and team priorities align with organizational goals.

  • Coordinate governance for Workday HCM and develop ERP system strategy and roadmaps based on business leader priorities.

  • Lead development, implementation, upgrades, testing, conversion, ongoing operations, and support of the Workday HCM ERP systems.

  • Plan and oversee management of HCM system improvement projects.

  • Monitor application performance and service delivery to ensure systems run optimally and continuously improve according to business needs.

  • Report monthly on operational metrics, human resource utilization, team capacity, team performance, and system utilization and performance.

  • Conduct regular feedback sessions with staff, maintain documentation of progress, and complete performance evaluations.

  • Coach and develop staff to support improved performance, engagement, and effectiveness.

  • Plan, establish, and execute professional development plans for self and team members.

  • Develop and lead a student apprenticeship program focused on Workday HCM ERP.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant experience with at least 2+ years of leadership experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience with at least 2+ years of leadership experience, oran equivalent combination of education and experiencepursuant toFla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams, functional analysts, or ERP support staff.

  • Expertise in Workday HCM modules such as Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Talent, Recruiting, Absence, and Time Tracking.

  • Experience collaborating with senior leaders and business process owners to develop system strategy, governance frameworks, and multi-year roadmaps aligned with institutional priorities.

  • Previous Human Capital Management (HCM) experience supporting or leading functional areas within a complex, multi-unit organization.

  • Proven experience with large-scale ERP or Workday implementation projects, including system upgrades, data conversions, optimization efforts and cross functional deployments.

  • In depth knowledge of Workday systems, including configuration, security, reporting, integrations, and HCM business processes.

  • Knowledgeable in ERP application systems and their relationship to organizational operations, workflows, and data structures.

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting or administering Workday HCM.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross functional projects, prioritize competing initiatives, and deliver results on time.

  • Advanced proficiency in Workday reporting, calculated fields, dashboards, and data analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into scalable, optimized system solutions.

  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated success mentoring, coaching, and developing staff while promoting a positive, high-engagement team culture.

  • Experience working within higher education, public sector, or similarly regulated environments.

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Position requires flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations, as needed.



The anticipated salary range for this position is $122,980 to $155,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
