The pay for this position ranges from $23 - $23.

Summary:

Over the course of the summer internship program, this role will focus on catalyst research and development. The work will tailored to real business need and requirements and be selected through a collaborative process between mentor, supervisor and intern. This can include research, synthesis, catalyst processing, catalyst testing, catalyst characterization, automation of data analysis processes, statistical analysis of data, and/or data visualization.

In addition to the catalyst project, this role will work on the day-to-day functions of a dynamic R&D lab environment. This will include catalyst synthesis, processing, characterization, testing, or lab maintenance and more.

Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Automated data formatting - using Python or other programming language to extract data from lab reports, add the data to simplified and aggregated databases, the display the data with data visualization.
  • Data analysis - understanding characterization and testing results of catalyst, including statistical analysis.
  • Synthesis and processing of catalyst - requires wet chemistry.
  • Modification of internal web app - Help fine tune the existing web application for the fuel processing lab to allow anyone to access the data generated from the lab.
  • Operating and optimizing gas chromatography instrumentation for precise analytical results.
  • Maintaining both physical and digital organization of laboratory materials and records to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Conducting thorough safety inspections and performing related compliance tasks to uphold a safe laboratory environment.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and readiness of glassware and equipment through regular cleaning procedures.
  • Performing equipment calibration as needed to guarantee accuracy and reliability in experimental results.
  • Other tasks as assigned.



Qualifications and Experience:



  • Must be a current undergraduate majoring in chemistry, chemical engineering or related field. Majors in general engineering, statistical data science, or related may be considered with accompanying Python or laboratory experience.
  • Experience in a lab environment preferred.
  • Experience with Python strongly preferred.



Internship: From June 8th to August 14th, 2026
