Job Summary

This position has responsibility for the technology-based analysis and administration of UC Davis Health, UC Learning Management System (LMS) in collaboration with UC Davis Campus. The LMS Administrator is a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge and is a recognized expert for UC Learning both within UC Davis Health and enterprise-wide. Works with a high degree of autonomy to lead the program for UCDH, including formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources.

The LMS Administrator also is accountable to work collaboratively with leaders enterprise-wide to provide logistical, reporting, administrative, and customer support to key stakeholders across the organization. The LMS Administrator regularly leads projects of critical importance to the organization, including the systems component of high-visibility and mandatory training initiatives with organization-wide impact.

The LMS Administrator develops processes and resources to enhance UC Davis Health's utilization of the system and develops systematic solutions to data or process issues. In order to ensure effective customer support, the LMS Administrator works with technical support personnel from UC Davis Information and Educational Technology, UC Davis Health Information Technology, and technical staff from the various colleges and administrative units.

The LMS Administrator is a principal technical contact with the LMS administration team at UC Office of the President.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area, or equivalent experience/training
  • One (1) year experience in related field
  • Experience developing and integrating Web 2.0 applications (wikis, blogging, podcasting, etc.)
  • Technical leadership or management experience with applications such as Articulate suite, Microsoft suite, Adobe dreamweaver, Acrobat
  • Demonstrated expertise in the administration of a Learning Management System (LMS), including understanding of technical aspects of SumTotal computer system and integration of the system with other IT programs in a health system
  • Knowledge of hands-on experience with large-scale, enterprise-wide internet website architecture and implementations, such as Object-oriented design techniques, XML., XSLT. HTML., DHTML., XHTML, JavaScript/AJAX, Perl, SOI, CSS, and RSS
  • Demonstrated expertise in website design
  • Knowledge of and the ability to design technical aspects on online learning module, including creation of slides in approved template and transfer into platform for use in LMS
  • Ability to mentor others in development of this skill
  • Analytical skills to generate reports as needed
  • Ability to consult with other departments, organize and run reports through LMS to support ongoing educational planning and tracking
  • Organizational skills to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally to provide consultation regarding elements of LMS to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer software and IT systems
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with tact and diplomacy appropriate for interaction with the health system community
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member and develop working relationships needed to accomplish organizational goals
  • Ability to build relationships and manage conflict, demonstrate ability to work with and maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities and goals and be able to design, code and implement major pieces of functionality to enhance the CPPN website and deliver projects on schedule
  • Ability to research and resolve production application problems quickly and accurately
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability in website design, such as with TEAMSITE

Department Overview

Center for Professional Practice of Nursing supports the onboarding and ongoing professional development of Professional Nursing staff withing UC Davis Health, as well as essential professional development for other health professionals employed by UC Davis at the Sacramento Medical Center Campus.

The Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator supports the utilization of the LMS system for delivery and tracking of ongoing clinical education for these staff, including but not limited to essential mandatory trainings, competency focused trainings, and continuing education/professional development.
