Product Engineer - Functional Safety (Chassis Systems)

Location: Dearborn, MI (Hybrid: 4 days onsite, 1 remote)

Pay: $54.26/hour

We are hiring a Product Engineer - Functional Safety to support advanced vehicle development within chassis systems, including braking and steering. This role focuses on ISO 26262 Functional Safety, systems engineering, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE/SysML) to ensure safety-critical automotive systems meet global standards. Key Responsibilities



  • Lead and support ISO 26262 Functional Safety analysis for new and carry-over chassis and steering systems
  • Conduct hazard analysis and risk assessments (HARA) and develop safety concepts
  • Create, maintain, and deliver Functional Safety work products aligned with industry standards
  • Apply MBSE and SysML methodologies to define and analyze system architectures
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional engineering teams from concept through production
  • Contribute to the design of safe, robust, and production-ready automotive systems
  • Support continuous improvement of safety processes, tools, and engineering best practices
  • Assist in developing globally aligned safety ratings, documentation, and training initiatives



Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 2+ years of experience applying ISO 26262 in automotive chassis or steering systems
  • Strong background in Systems Engineering principles and methodologies
  • Experience with MBSE tools and SysML modeling preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and embedded software fundamentals
  • Ability to develop system, software, or hardware safety architectures
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills
