Just to note, this is a Hybrid/Remote Role as you may be required to go onsite to support one of our clients in the Toronto Ontario area. You must already reside in Canada to be considered for this position, no relocation will be provided.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Administrator with a focus on Linux and Ansible. In this role, you will be responsible for performing Linux patching using Ansible automation and troubleshooting when automation presents errors. In cases where issues persist, you will manually patch systems while continuing to work with the Ansible team to resolve automation failures. Additionally, you will handle support tickets for multiple customers when not engaged in patching. Weekend and after-hours availability will be required for scheduled patching.

Key Responsibilities



  • Suport & Manage Linux & Ansible environments

  • Perform Linux patching using Ansible automation for a dedicated customer.

  • Troubleshoot and escalate failed Ansible automations to the automation team on the client side, working together to resolve issues.

  • Manually patch Linux systems when automation fails, ensuring systems are still updated while collaborating on automation fixes.

  • Perform regular operational work based on Jira tickets. Operational work includes request fulfilment, event/issue response, and major issue calls with the client.

  • Document patching activities, automation failures, and resolutions for future reference.

Support Multiple Customers:


  • Periodically, work will be done for other clients where Linux and Ansible skills are required.

  • Provide general system administration support, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks across customer environments.

  • Escalate complex problems to senior team members when necessary.

Collaboration & Documentation:


  • Work as the main Ansible Engineer to address automation issues and optimize the patching process.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to ensure smooth system operations.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of patching activities, automation issues, and ticket resolutions to ensure an up-to-date knowledge base.

Weekend and After-Hours Work:
Be available for weekend and after-hours work to perform scheduled patching for the dedicated customer.
Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to urgent system issues or patching emergencies outside of regular hours.





Skills, Knowledge & Expertise



  • 1-3 years of experience in system administration or IT support, with a focus on Linux and Ansible environments.

  • Hands-on experience with patch management and system updates in Linux and Ansible environments.

  • Exposure to or experience with Ansible automation is required.

  • Familiarity with Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve common system issues, with experience using ticketing systems for multi-customer support.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, especially in managing patching schedules and handling tickets across multiple environments.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers and team members.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

  • Willingness to work after hours and on weekends to meet patching requirements.

  • Problem-solving mindset for working through automation failures and collaborating on solutions.

Certifications:
CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) are a plus.

Work Environment:
