Responsibilities

  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.
  • Work with patients to improve their ability to communicate effectively, and address difficulties related to speech, voice, fluency, and comprehension.
  • Evaluate speech, language, and swallowing disorders through assessments and standardized tests.
  • Identify the cause of communication difficulties (e.g., developmental delays, neurological conditions, or trauma).
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
  • Provide therapy for speech and language disorders, including articulation, fluency, and voice disorders.
  • Teach patients exercises and techniques to improve communication skills.
  • Assist patients with swallowing difficulties through targeted interventions.
  • Work closely with families, caregivers, teachers, and healthcare providers to support patient progress.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on communication strategies.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and progress reports.
  • Adjust treatment plans as needed based on patient improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and professional standards.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (MS or MA).
  • Texas state license to practice as a Speech-Language Therapist.
  • Certification from ASHA as a CCC-SLP.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
