Job Summary
The Director of Talent Acquisition and Onboarding is a hands-on leader, responsible for directing the Company's full spectrum of recruiting and onboarding activities. This role oversees, and actively participates in, both craft workforce recruitment and professional search across the organization, ensuring an integrated talent strategy that supports both immediate project demands and longterm workforce planning. Partnering closely with operational management and Human Resources, the Director develops and executes innovative recruiting strategies to support business growth, while delivering a highquality newhire experience.
Essential Functions
- Actively support the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values".
- Represent the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics".
- Manage end-to-end recruitment operations including candidate sourcing, screening, selection, offer development and negotiations, while adhering to established hiring practices and salary guidelines.
- Design and oversee the endtoend onboarding strategies for both professional and craft hiring, ensuring new hires have a consistent, engaging, and supportive experience from offer acceptance through their first few weeks on the job. For craft hires, this will include establishing scalable onboarding models to support growth, seasonality and operational changes.
- Direct and mentor recruiting and onboarding teams, both craft and professional, ensuring the organization's applicable needs are sufficiently supported through collaboration with the business.
- Working closely with operations management, develop and implement the Company's approach to craft recruiting; ensure the Company's craft recruiting needs are understood and effectively addressed throughout the Company.
- As needed, also perform hands-on recruiting efforts, to include evaluating candidate applications, conducting interviews, and determining suitability for employment.
- Monitor and stay current with industry trends and best practices in all aspects of construction and engineering industry recruiting and evaluate the impact to the Company. Make recommendations for new or improved practices.
- Engage with operations management, project managers, and superintendents to assess craft and project staffing requirements for both current and long-term needs. Using this input, develop and execute recruitment and onboarding strategies for each project or group, while ensuring effective utilization of existing craft personnel.
- Partner with executives, operations management, and HR to assess current and future workforce needs; develop strategic plans to meet both short and longterm hiring demands.
- Leverage industry expertise and market intelligence to design and execute innovative sourcing strategies that attract highquality passive and active candidates through diverse channels such as social media, the craft app and professional associations.
- Provide strategic guidance to leadership on offer development and negotiation, ensuring alignment with compensation guidelines and market competitiveness.
- Manage budgets and resource allocation for recruitment activities and initiatives.
- Represent the Company in industry forums and community organizations to strengthen market presence and address skill shortages.
- Ensure compliance with all employment laws and internal hiring policies while upholding high standards for candidate screening, behavioral interviewing and culturalfit assessment across the organization.
- Establish and analyze key performance indicators, recruiting metrics, and predictive analytics to inform decision making.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in recruitment and talent acquisition within the construction or EPC industry. Previous experience recruiting craft and specialized field/project staff strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Construction Management, or equivalent experience required.
- Deep knowledge of construction industry labor markets, talent sourcing, workforce planning, labor forecasting and passive candidate development.
- Previous experience developing and executing successful and creative recruiting strategies in the construction industry.
- Proven success in developing and executing recruiting strategies for both craft and professional roles, including passive candidate engagement.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills enabling effective collaboration with business leaders and candidates.
- Ability to oversee confidential information discreetly and professionally.
- Highly organized, analytical, and initiative-taking with the ability to navigate a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated success building and leading highperforming recruiting teams.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
- Ability to think strategically and develop both short- and long-term plans to meet the workforce needs of the Company.
- Solid knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding employment practices.
- Proficiency with applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms, online sourcing tools, social media for recruitment purposes and MS Office applications.
- Professional approach and demeanor.
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours and travel, as needed.
