Primary Function Maintains and operates systems and networks used for supporting operational testing. Installs, supports, and maintains system servers and other computer systems. Plan, direct, or coordinate activities for electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming. Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission-critical enterprise systems. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Plans for and responds to configuration requirements to support testing and support problem resolution. Has an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications, as well as hardware and software troubleshooting. Supervise maintenance of AIT user accounts, system backups, and audit files. Support the configuration management and V&V of all test support AIT and databases. Provide support to the CCB as required. Provide input to test team accreditation plans. Administers, tests, and implements computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Coordinates changes to computer databases with programmers. May plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases. Investigate and analyze the feasibility of system requirements and develop system specifications. Identifies methods, and solutions, and provides project leadership and management to provide a high level of service. Has a strong grasp of computer security. Administrative lead on all RMF matters pertaining to instrumentation and network systems. Maintains, operates, and administers the Instrumentation Control Center (ICC) as required in support of operational testing. Supports test instrumentation data collection, research and analysis, net-centric data analysis, and support of automated data collection devices. Has an in-depth knowledge of different operating systems and applications including Windows and LINUX as well as network hardware and software. Deploys software patches and support measures to prevent intrusion and other security problems associated with SYSTEM HIGH operations. Provides overall system administration responsibility for the ICC, the instrumentation, and operating systems. Conducts ongoing security risk assessments including monitoring, investigation, and reporting of security risk. Conducts feasibility studies and develops system, time, equipment, and cost requirements. Conducts systems research and troubleshooting. Essential Duties System Installation and Configuration
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, and system software in physical and virtual environments.
- Configure system hardware, operating systems, applications, and supporting infrastructure.
- Deploy system updates, patches, and upgrades in accordance with established procedures.
- Configure user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
System Administration and Maintenance
- Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization.
- Perform routine system maintenance including backups, system checks, and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain system reliability and ensure minimal downtime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system hardware, software, and operating system issues.
- Maintain system configuration documentation.
Network and Infrastructure Support
- Support network-connected systems including servers, storage systems, and infrastructure components.
- Assist with configuration and maintenance of network services such as DNS, DHCP, and directory services.
- Support system connectivity and ensure proper integration with network infrastructure.
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of virtual environments.
Cybersecurity and Information Assurance
- Implement and maintain system security controls in accordance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
- Apply system security patches, updates, and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements and security accreditation processes.
- Monitor systems for security events and unauthorized access.
- Maintain compliance with cybersecurity policies and procedures.
Backup, Recovery, and Continuity Operations
- Perform system backups and verify backup integrity.
- Support system recovery and restoration operations.
- Assist in disaster recovery planning and continuity of operations activities.
- Ensure data integrity and availability.
Test and Evaluation Support
- Support computer systems used in test instrumentation, data acquisition, and engineering environments.
- Configure and maintain systems supporting test operations.
- Assist in preparing systems for test events and ensuring operational readiness.
- Provide technical support during test activities and resolve system-related issues.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain system administration documentation, procedures, and configuration records.
- Document system changes, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Maintain system inventory and configuration management records.
- Provide status reports and technical input to program management.
Technical Support and Coordination
- Provide technical support to users and technical staff.
- Coordinate with network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program staff.
- Assist in system planning, upgrades, and integration activities.
- Support system audits, inspections, and compliance reviews

- Experience supporting test range instrumentation or engineering systems
Required Qualifications
- Requires a Secret security clearance.
- One of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field
- Associate's degree in related field and two (2) additional years of relevant experience
- Technical certification and four (4) additional years of relevant experience
- Eight (8) years of relevant system administration experience in lieu of degree
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in system administration or IT infrastructure support.
- Experience administering Windows Server, Linux, or UNIX systems.
- Experience supporting networked computer systems and enterprise environments.
- Experience supporting DoD or Army systems preferred.
Working Environment A fast paced multi-tasking customer service oriented environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. Adaptability regarding schedule and task changes is necessary to accommodate changing priorities. Overtime may be required.
