Let Vaco advocate for you! We are currently seeking a Senior AI Engineer to support a growing team.

Role Overview

This position offers significant ownership and influence. The right candidate is energized by the concept of collaborative AI in engineering-where intelligent systems handle execution-level tasks and developers concentrate on system design and architectural decisions. As the first team member focused exclusively on AI-enabled developer experience, you will:

  • Architect and Launch: Establish the technical foundation and deliver the initial production-ready versions of AI-driven workflow automation.

  • Design Autonomous Workflows: Build coordinated multi-agent systems capable of moving work seamlessly from task intake through code creation, testing, and pull request generation with minimal manual intervention.

  • Integrate with Existing Infrastructure: Ensure AI systems operate effectively within current CI/CD environments, leveraging retrieval-based context to generate secure, high-quality code aligned with established standards.

  • Deliver Real-World Impact: Deploy practical tools used daily by engineering teams, measuring success through improved development velocity and reduced cognitive overhead.

What You Bring

The focus is on engineering judgment and architectural depth rather than familiarity with specific frameworks:

  • Systems Thinking: Experience designing and operating LLM-based solutions such as agent-driven workflows, retrieval-augmented pipelines, or production AI platforms.

  • Strong Engineering Foundation: Background in backend or platform engineering, with a clear understanding of failure modes, pipeline security, and observability.

  • Experience with Non-Deterministic Systems: Ability to manage AI unpredictability, mitigate hallucinations, implement feedback loops, and create evaluation mechanisms to ensure reliability.

  • Pragmatic Tool Selection: Comfort choosing technologies based on architectural fit and long-term maintainability rather than trends.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
