We are seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer (RFE3) to support a large support services contract with the Naval Sea Systems Command.

Position Description: You will provide support to the Program and Deputy Program Manager of a 200-person, contractor team that includes subcontractor personnel.

Work location and telework: The primary government worksite is the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Contractors should expect to work on-site at the Navy Yard or nearby office locations up to five (5) days per week. Limited telework may be available with customer approval and may be adjusted over time based on mission needs and established working relationships.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Hardware Engineers research, design, develop, and test computer systems and components such as processors, circuit boards, and memory devices. They develop technical schematics, support and oversee manufacturing processes, and enhance equipment to improve performance, speed, and power efficiency. Working primarily in laboratory environments, they collaborate closely with software teams to ensure seamless hardware and software integration. This role requires strong expertise in electronics, programming, troubleshooting, and debugging.

  • Radio Frequency (RF) Engineers perform systems and system-of-systems (SoS) design, testing, integration, implementation, technical reviews, and certification activities to ensure operational performance and compliance with requirements.

They may also perform the following duties:

  • Conduct data analyses, to include interpreting and summarizing results
  • Design, develop, test, evaluate, and sustain various Radio Frequency (RF) and Tactical Data Link (TDL) communication systems
  • Develop technical documentation such as test plans and reports
  • Apply a full range of disciplines pertinent to communication systems capabilities such as requirements analysis, systems engineering, interface design, logistics, training, reliability and maintainability, human factors, and T&E to complete assigned duties
  • Leverage principles such as communications theory, modulation systems, engineering design, testing, and system-level communications (e.g. link budgets and modulation schemes and end-to-end RF product development) to complete assigned duties

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
  • A high school diploma or GED with twenty (20) years of relevant experience in Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys, and/or Laser hardware development, production, and/or testing.
  • A bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline with fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys, and/or Laser hardware development, production, and/or testing.
  • A master's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline with ten (10) years of relevant experience in Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys, and/or Laser hardware development, production, and/or testing.

Preferred / Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Navy/DOD policy and guidance
    • System/subsystem design
    • Manufacturing processes, including specialized knowledge of RF components (radar/EW), electro-optic/IR focal planes (EO/IR), or High-powered Pulsed Laser sources and directors (Lasers)
    • Product development and test
    • Government test, inspection, and witness standards and execution of qualification testing and production acceptance
    • Ship Integration requirements, standards, documentation, and processes
    • o Hardware ECPs, Field changes, ORDALT/SHIPALT processes, procedures, and shipyard/waterfront operations
    • CDRL management and technical reviews
    • Criteria and assessments of Waivers, Deviations, and Variances
    • Specialized experience: No other specialized experience required

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel should be infrequent but include occasional trips to support government efforts at East and West Coast naval centric areas like Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA.
