Job Summary
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate). Under the supervision of the UCSF BCH -UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals Nurse Manager the Clinical Nurse II - Practice Nurse in the Pediatric/Pediatric Treatment Center is responsible for providing direct and indirect clinical care to pediatric outpatients who have a variety hematology disorders. Care is provided through the systematic application of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. All components of this process are individualized to meet the physiological, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the patients. The Pediatric Hematology Nurse performs ongoing assessments and modifies the care planning process as needed, to ensure continuity of care between inpatient, outpatient, homecare, home, and multiple providers. The Pediatric Hematology Nurse is actively involved in patient, staff, and provider education. (S)he participates in clinical research activities within the program and incorporates research findings into planning and implementation of care.
Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.
Required Qualifications
Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Minimum of two (2) years of recent pediatric RN experience, including at least one (1) year of ambulatory experience. Demonstrated knowledge and skills required to successfully perform the duties of the position. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to communicate calmly and effectively in complex situations. Proficiency and comfort navigating and documenting in multiple electronic systems. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to appropriately triage Hematology patients both via telephone and in person. Minimum of two (2) years of Hematology/Oncology experience. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
License/Certification
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Current healthcare provider CPR certification
- PALS for ASC, M/L PACU, MZ PACU, ED, PICU, Peds Transport and Peds Critical Care Floats.
- NRP for 15PS, ICN, Peds Critical Care Floats and Peds Transport
- APHON or ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Status for Parnassus 6PCRC, 7L, 11L, 14L, 14M, 9/13 ICU, 12 CCRC, LSU, Adult Transfusion Services, Pediatric Acute Care Resource Team, Pediatric Treatment Center; Mount Zion 4W. 5N. 6W, Ida Friend Infusion Center.
