DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE: Under the direction of the Dean of Health Sciences and Horticulture, the Program Director provides leadership, instruction, administration, and daily operation in the field of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and supports continuous program improvement through professional expertise and effective teaching practices. This includes program organization, budgeting, administration, ongoing review and evaluation, continued program development, and ensuring the effectiveness and quality of program curricula. The Program Director teaches assigned courses within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering high-quality instruction in-person. Responsibilities include assessing and selecting textbooks and instructional supplies, incorporating innovative instructional methodologies, and supporting student learning and success. The Program Director works closely with the clinical coordinator and medical director, and serves as the primary liaison between the college, program, and clinical education centers. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining clinical affiliate partnerships, contracting with medical facilities for student clinical placements, and ensuring the effectiveness and quality of all clinical education experiences. The Program Director ensures students meet all clinical onboarding requirements, including health, immunization, background checks, and facility-specific compliance standards. The position ensures full compliance with accreditation standards established by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS) under the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). This includes oversight of accreditation documentation, statistical data collection, annual reports, and coordination of site visits and assessments. Additional responsibilities include recruiting and evaluating part-time faculty; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders such as college leadership, hospital and medical facility administrators; and community outreach. Standard faculty duties include curriculum development and assessment; maintaining scheduled office hours; attending department, division, and college meetings; participating in professional development activities; serving on district and college committees; engaging in campus extracurricular activities; and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff. Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience as a registered sonographer (full time is defined as 35 hours per week). A bachelor's degree may be in progress but must be completed by September 1st. Current active registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in the following: - Abdominal subjects (AB) - Ob-Gyn (OB) Minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. Full time is defined as 35 hours per week. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in a discipline within the health sciences. 3-5 years of clinical experience at the hospital level. Experience in the educational field. ARDMS registration in breast (BR), RVT (vascular), and musculoskeletal (MSK). Experience managing, supervising, or coordinating a DMS program. Experience in fiscal management. Demonstrate proficiency in computer systems, information systems, and internet literacy. Work effectively with diverse student, staff, and faculty populations. Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to handle difficult and sensitive issues and problems and resolve conflicts. Ability to train, assign, supervise, evaluate, and develop part-time staff and clinical instructors. Ability to demonstrate the principles of trust, teamwork, and collaboration Ability to exercise the principles of leadership, management, and supervision. Ability to implement concepts of strategic planning. Effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of documenting, assessing, and evaluating student learning outcomes. Experience teaching at the Community College level. Teaching pedagogy is adaptable to a variety of learning styles, including an emphasis on interactive multimedia, internet resources, and hands-on lab experiences. Ability to teach and communicate effectively with students. Ability to work closely and cooperatively with faculty and support staff. Ability to develop curriculum and work with academically and culturally diverse students. Flexibility and ability to work as a member of a team of professionals. Ability to communicate articulately and effectively with individuals differing in age, gender, ethnicity, educational, and economic background.
