The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Program Director/Instructor, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Foothill College. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE: Under the direction of the Dean of Health Sciences and Horticulture, the Program Director provides leadership, instruction, administration, and daily operation in the field of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and supports continuous program improvement through professional expertise and effective teaching practices. This includes program organization, budgeting, administration, ongoing review and evaluation, continued program development, and ensuring the effectiveness and quality of program curricula. The Program Director teaches assigned courses within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering high-quality instruction in-person. Responsibilities include assessing and selecting textbooks and instructional supplies, incorporating innovative instructional methodologies, and supporting student learning and success. The Program Director works closely with the clinical coordinator and medical director, and serves as the primary liaison between the college, program, and clinical education centers. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining clinical affiliate partnerships, contracting with medical facilities for student clinical placements, and ensuring the effectiveness and quality of all clinical education experiences. The Program Director ensures students meet all clinical onboarding requirements, including health, immunization, background checks, and facility-specific compliance standards. The position ensures full compliance with accreditation standards established by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS) under the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). This includes oversight of accreditation documentation, statistical data collection, annual reports, and coordination of site visits and assessments. Additional responsibilities include recruiting and evaluating part-time faculty; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders such as college leadership, hospital and medical facility administrators; and community outreach. Standard faculty duties include curriculum development and assessment; maintaining scheduled office hours; attending department, division, and college meetings; participating in professional development activities; serving on district and college committees; engaging in campus extracurricular activities; and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor.
